Building practical XR + AI systems for real use.

Over 50 XR projects and prototypes led to one recurring issue: most XR systems do not retain context across sessions. My research focuses on that gap through Harmony and applied OpenSpatialAI work, with a practical emphasis on systems that can perceive, remember, and adapt in real workflows.

OpenSpatialAI

OpenSpatialAI is an early-stage GitHub project exploring APIs, memory, adaptive XR behaviors, and world-model experiments for XR workflows, grounded by the Harmony research framework.

Varun Siddaraju, XR and AI researcher

Harmony investigates three interconnected problems: how XR systems perceive and represent continuous human state, how persistent spatial memory enables genuine adaptation across sessions, and how explainable AI mediation builds the trust that makes all of this deployable at scale. Ten years of building the systems that didn't solve these problems is what defined the research.
